Meet Albertine
She began classical ballet at the age of four at the music school in Meppel. There she was taught by Jackie Besier, who also taught at the Nel Roos Ballet Academy in Amsterdam. After completing V.W.O. (pre-university education), she went to the Nel Roos Ballet Academy at the Theaterschool in Amsterdam and graduated in 1981 with specializations in classical, modern, and jazz.
At the dance academy in Rotterdam, she graduated in 1983 with specializations in folklore and caractère. She also took tap dance and singing lessons at the cabaret academy in Amsterdam and in New York. In 1981, she began teaching in Haarlem at dance studio To Venema, and in 1987 she started her own ballet school, Balance.
About Balance: Until 2005, for nearly 20 years, I taught all the classes on my own. Linde was my first teacher. From 2012 onwards, more teachers joined who began teaching modern, street dance, and so on. Ana, Amarinske, Nina, and Mick, all graduated from the AHK. Later came Machteld, Veronika, and Sofie, who completed their dance training elsewhere in Europe.
